It is a privilege to be the Dean of the premier super-speciality medical institute, SGPGIMS, Lucknow which has been at the forefront of quality medical education and research, besides treatment of complex diseases in the country over the past three decades. I stand tall that SGPGIMS has consistently ranked 1st within the state of Uttar Pradesh and 5th among the top 10 medical institutions of the country.
Known for its beautiful campus rich in flora and fauna that spreads over 550 acres, it possesses dedicated skilled faculty and staff, excellent infrastructure, library, laboratories, skill labs and state-of-art sports complex. SGPGIMS, with current bed strength of more than 1500 and 32 departments, has a unique distinction in starting several specialities and super-speciality academic courses for the very first time within the country that have been emulated and adopted by other top medical institutions of the country. Advance Diabetes Centre
Diabetes is a major public health concern in India. Approximately 10% of Indian population suffers from diabetes. Serious diabetes-related complications contribute to mortality and morbidity, with immense associated economic burdens.
College of Medical Technology
The CMT was started in July 2018 with 12 courses, including 9 B.Sc and 3 M.Sc. courses. These courses were duly approved by the Academic Board and the 51st governing body.
College of Nursing
Owing to the nations commitment to bring primary health services within the reach of all individuals, there is a great demand for the Professional Nursing manpower in India. With this view in mind, The College of Nursing at SGPGI Lucknow, an autonomous State University established by the SGPGIMS Act 1983, was established on 14th January 2008.
General Hospital
General Hospital has the privilege of being the first department in SGPGIMS where clinical services started in 1987.The very first indoor patients were admitted in the Gynaecology unit and the first surgical procedures were performed by the Gynaecology and Surgery Units of General Hospital.
Center of Hepatobiliary Diseases and Transplantation
The Center was conceived in 2004. It got into shape in 2018 and was dedicated to the public by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of UP, Yogi Adityanath ji, on October 15, 2018.
Rajdhani COVID Hospital
As Corona was declared to be a global pandemic by the World Health Organization, The government of Uttar Pradesh entrusted SGPGI with the responsibility of creating the apex level COVID Care facility for the state very quickly, in a new place, for a new disease to meet the urgent demand for a center to manage the most complicated patients with COVID.
Apex Trauma Centre
Apex Trauma Centre (ATC)is a state-of-the-art Level-1 Trauma centre of SGPGIMS situated in Sector- 16, Vrindavan Yojana, Lucknow. It was started as a part of SGPGIMS vide G.O. No. 59/20173101/71-217-P-17/2008 dated 31st August 2017 to cater to trauma patients.
MedTech Centre of Entrepreneurship (CoE)
MedTech is a Center of Entrepreneurship(CoE) in the field of MediElectronics and Health Informatics setup at 3rd Floor, New Library Building, SGPGI Lucknow. This novel initiative has been set up by consortia comprising of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI)-Ministry of Electronics and IT-Govt of India, SGPGI Lucknow
